A knife held against the soft and fragile pale white skin was all she remembered before blacking out. The memory after that point wasn’t any better. She remembered seeing and smelling the blood that was once hers, her head pounding with a splitting headache that got worse with every sound that rang through her ears, the once soft lights became painfully bright, and flashing red and white lights slowly fade away into nothing but a calming blackness. As she awoke from the calming blackness, she stared up the ceiling trying to figure out if that was all just dream and why her once dandelion yellow ceiling was was off-white. As she goes to lift her right arm a shock of pain ran up her arm and a small yelp of pain escapes from her. She slowly looks over at her arm afraid to find that her dream wasn’t a dream, but the cruel harsh reality she had created for herself. Her arm was wrapped in bandages that covered her whole arm and was soaked in a deep dark red of dried blood. A sigh is let out from her soft pink lips, she was hoping that the dream wasn’t a dream and that she was dead, but she now knew she was in a hospital and her suicide want was a failure. This was going to be living hell for her now, everyone was going to keep an eye on her 24/7 and no one is going to allow her to use or be near sharp objects. People are going to treat her much differently or worse than they have before. Her father will only be more abusive, her mother will only be more critical, the teachers will watch her with those eagle eyes, and the children at school will just be all the more harsh with their once pleasant words. She closes her eyes and prays to god that he will just kill her now before anyone realizes she was awake. She had no want to talk or see anyone; they will only fuel the need that is gnawing at her, the need to comment suicide. She opens her eyes just as a nurse walks in. “Hello miss,” The nurse says with a soft gentle voice and a friendly smile on her face. The girl just looks at the nurse, her heart sinking knowing what was to come. These were the people that made her irritable. These type of people were always happy, it was unnatural to be that happy all the time, especially when you worked with sick and dying patients. Unless of course, you enjoy the death of others like so many people in history have, then that would be understandable, but she knew this was not the case for the nurse. “Is there anything I can get you?” The nurse asks the soft smile never leaving her face. Yeah there was something she wanted, but she wasn’t aloud to have it. If she was it would have been granted to her last night, but alas, something was keeping her tied to this thing called life. “No...” The girl’s voice was a little hoarse from just waking up. “If you need anything just ask.” The nurse smiles again and proceeds to pull out a syringe from a pocket. The girl looks at the needle a wave of terror washing over her, she was deathly afraid of needles. Using a knife or a razor to cut the flesh was one thing but needles were something else entirely. “Why.. why do you have a needle?” Subtle terror could be heard in the girl’s voice. The nurse gave the girl a reinsuring smile, “The doctor needs to put stitches in your arm.” She walks over to the girl, all the while getting the needle ready. The girl shuts her eyes not wanting to see the needle go into her scarred and damaged skin. Her conscience starts to fade and the calming blackness washes over her for the second time in a 24 hours.
